Photo Safari in Northern California

   Growing up in Sweden, I developed a passion for photography at an early age. Now, after many years as a photographer in Oregon, I continue to be inspired by the state’s remarkable diversity of landscapes. With a background in high-tech engineering, I find particular joy in capturing the non-technical beauty and subtle details of the natural world. Bird photography—especially of larger species—is among my favorite subjects.

  Working with high-resolution digital photography allows me to capture nature’s finest details and translate them into large-format prints with exceptional clarity and color. Today’s technology also makes it possible to produce archival-quality prints on paper and canvas that resist fading and color change for a lifetime.

  I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, with one of my most memorable trips taking me to Brazil and Argentina, where I captured striking natural scenery and photographed tropical birds at close range.

  In recent years, I have exhibited my work in art shows and galleries, where I’ve been honored to receive several awards. My large-format, gallery-wrapped close up botanical photographs have been selected to adorn the walls of major medical facilities in the Portland, Oregon area. In 2021 and 2023, I was also honored to receive Photo of the Day awards in the Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contests.

   Many of my subjects are captured at close range, revealing their intriguing qualities. Some images are extreme close-ups that approach abstraction, where familiar forms transform into patterns of shape and texture. Details that often go unnoticed by the human eye are brought into sharp focus and rendered with striking clarity.

I consider an image successful when the viewer does not immediately recognize the subject—inviting curiosity, encouraging a closer look, and rewarding that second glance with discovery.
